I can truly say, today was a good day….
I very rarely see movies on the day they release in theaters, but me and my best friend’s went to see Tyler Perry’s new movie “Good Deeds” and it was a great movie. (I won’t go any further than that, go support and see it!) A lot of people say my husband looks like Tyler Perry, but I never see it, BUT today during the movie, live and in living color, I saw my husband dancing in the movie!
What do you think?
On a more serious note, Tyler Perry lived out his movie title today and did “A Good Deed” on the South-side of Chicago. For 94 days Pastor Corey Brooks of New Beginnings Church camped out on the roof of an abandoned hotel across the street from his church. He proclaimed through a cold, snowy, and windy Chicago that he wouldn’t come off of the roof until he raised $450,000 to build a new community center. Today, a member of New Beginnings Church wrote a letter for a contest for Perry’s new movie and was proclaimed the winner. Once he heard about the cause and that it was real, he donated $98,000 (then decided to make it an even $100K) to the cause and TONIGHT Pastor Corey Brooks came off the roof! This a beautiful story of the positive outcome of faith and determination, when people say you will fail, you thrive!
Today was a great day filled with good deeds. A relationship was started and I can’t wait to see what beautiful a flower it will blossom to be, I had a great evening with my best friend’s indulging in a great movie, good food, and even better conversation, and today on my cousin’s __ birthday she received her college degree. Words could not express the happiness that I felt when I saw the picture of her degree (I almost starting crying like a baby in the movie theater). When you know how hard someone worked on their dream, you can appreciate their reward. That’s what this blog is all about, Chasing kids and bigger dreams, and she lived that out for me today.
Be encouraged, you’re next!
